Because Concrete Always Cracks
PROBLEM:
  • Concrete is permeable and always cracks
  • Chlorides migrate faster in cracked concrete
  • Corrosion begins when chlorides reach the
    reinforcing steel

  • SOLUTION:
  • Zbar’s outer polymer layer acts as a first line of defense against chlorides
  • Zbar’s inner zinc layer provides additional sacrificial protection if the outer polymer layer
    is damaged

  • When sufficient chlorides are present to cause corrosion, accelerated significantly by cracking, Zbar’s outer polymer layer acts as a first line of defense. If the coating is damaged through handling or placement, the inner zinc layer provides sacrificial protection against corrosion. If the damaged area to the outer polymer is larger, Zbar’s inner zinc layer prevents sideways creep, localizing any corrosion.
